Cardiff suffer heaviest URC defeat of the season as Wales legend returns

Cardiff suffered their heaviest defeat of the United Rugby Championship season as they were ruthlessly put to the sword 40-7 by the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld.

The Bulls scored six tries in total with Marcell Coetzee, Johan Grobbelaar, David Kriel, Embrose Papier, Elrigh Louw and Ruan Vermaak touching down while Handre Pollard and Kriel contributed 10 points between them from the kicking tee.

All Cardiff could muster was a single try from Harri Millard and two points from the boot of Callum Sheedy.

The most positive aspect of the game for the Welsh club was the return of Taulupe Faletau who made his first appearance from the replacements bench since New Year's Day.

The Welsh club made their lives difficult when backrower Alun Lawrence got sent to the sin bin for killing the ball. This led directly to a Bulls try as Coetzee touched down off the back of a driving lineout.

The Bulls were soon celebrating their second try as Grobbelaar powered over courtesy of another powerful maul.

With the game breaking up Springboks wing Kurt-Lee Arendse sliced open the Cardiff defence before putting Kriel over for the Bulls' third try.

Arendse was the architect of the Bulls' fourth try as he tore Cardiff open yet again with his footwork before releasing Papier who skinned Sheedy on the outside to score.

With half-time fast approaching things got even worse for Cardiff as Moodie races into the Welsh club's 22. The ball went loose and as if he were on a soccer
