Cardiff City v Penybont live: Kick-off time, team news and updates from Erol Bulut's first match

Erol Bulut will take charge of his first game as Cardiff City manager today as the Bluebirds kick off their pre-season against Penybont.

With just over five weeks to go until the start of the 2023/24 Championship campaign, Cardiff play host to the JD Cymru Premier side in the first fixture of what is a packed pre-season schedule, which will see them take on Premier League and Champions League-calibre opposition.

The Bluebirds will also welcome Penybont's league rivals The New Saints to the Cardiff City Stadium next week, before jetting off to Portugal later in the month.

As far as today's game is concerned, we are expecting to see Bulut field a relatively youthful side as he takes to the dugout for the first time, having shared how he wants to give the club's hot prospects an opportunity to impress as he formulates his plans for the upcoming season.

But while he has a chance to experiment in this friendly match, the new boss is focused on starting his reign with a win after a miserable last season which saw Cardiff narrowly avoid relegation to League One.

Penybont will be no pushovers, however, as they prepare to make their UEFA Conference League debut against Andorran champions FC Santa Coloma in less than two weeks time.

Kick-off at the Cardiff City stadium is at 3pm. You can follow all the build-up, team news and score updates below.
