Cardiff City headlines as Morison backs duo for Wales on one condition, boss wanted Aston Villa players and star's future up in the air

Steve Morison says he's not yet held any conversations with Rob Page over a possible call-up for young duo Isaak Davies and Rubin Colwill, but says he doesn't want them to simply make up the numbers in the latest Wales squad.

Page is set to announce his squad for the upcoming World Cup play-off with Austria next week, and there's a growing clamour to include Colwill, who was part of their Euro 2020 set-up, and Isaak Davies, who's not yet received a senior call-up.

Cardiff and Wales legend Joe Ledley recently backed both players to be a part of Page's plans and, while he's echoed that backing, Morison hopes that any call-up will give his youngsters the chance to make a meaningful contribution.

"They've played well," he said. "The experience of going away with Wales excellent. It's great for them to be a part of it and it's a great reward.

"I haven't spoken to the Wales manager so I don't know what his thoughts are on those players. Whether he wants to take them and involve them, or wants to take them to be a part of it, or doesn't want to take them at all.

"As long as it's all managed right and in the right way, then hopefully they will be a part of the Welsh set-up for a hell of a long time and become key members of the team.

"Does that mean I don't want them to go right now? No. But like everything it has to be managed correctly.

"If Rob wants to give me a call and discuss it then I'm here to discuss it. if not then we don't. I just have to watch from afar and hope they're managed in the best possible way."
