Cardiff City eye fresh agreement with current player

According to Football Insider, the Cardiff forward is in advanced talks over a new deal with the Welsh club.

Davies, 20, made his breakthrough into Championship football through Cardiff and has become regarded as one of the club’s brightest talents.

The club are reportedly keen to fend off any potential interest from Premier League clubs, so have pushed for a long-term extension of Davies’ contract.

Davies’ current deal runs until June 2023, so it is imperative that the club signs him to a new contract in order to protect his value.

The Wales U21 international has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season and has contributed five goals or assists this campaign.

Davies made his debut this season, having been with the club since the age of only seven-years-old.

His first strike for the club came this year in the Third Round of the FA Cup against Preston North End.

Davies also featured at Anfield as the side were knocked out of the cup by Liverpool in the following round.

Cardiff are currently 18th in the Championship, 16-points clear of the relegation zone.

Next up is a trip to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium to face Queens Park Rangers on March 5.

This is great news for Cardiff City, who will be tying down an exciting prospect for a long-term deal.

This should help fend off any interest from top Championship clubs and Premier League sides.

This is hopefully just the first of a few positive contract discussions now that Steve Morison’s future has been decided.

This is a great commitment from the club and should be a sign of things to come.
