Cardiff City complete loan signing of Middlesbrough's Uche Ikpeazu as striker takes Kieffer Moore's No.10 shirt

Cardiff City have confirmed the loan signing of Uche Ikpeazu from Middlesbrough.

The Bluebirds worked hard on deadline day to find a replacement for Kieffer Moore, who forced through a move to Bournemouth after handing in a transfer request.

Cardiff enquired about a number of players, but Steve Morison has managed to get Ikpeazu over the line having admired him for some time.

The Bluebirds had asked about Nahki Wells at Bristol City and Sam Surridge at Stoke City, when they believed the Ikpeazu move was off.

Middlesbrough were adamant they would only allow the 26-year-old to leave if it was on a permanent basis. However, on deadline day, their stance softened and they sanctioned a loan move until the end of the season.

Ikpeazu impressed against Cardiff in both games for Wycombe Wanderers last term, as well as the game at Cardiff City Stadium for Boro this term, but has found things a little tougher after moving to Teesside.

The forward has scored three goals in 23 outings in all competitions this term.

" Cardiff City Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of forward Uche Ikpeazu," a club statement read.

"The former Watford, Hearts and Cambridge United man joins from Middlesbrough for the rest of the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

"He signed for Boro in the summer of 2021 from Wycombe Wanderers, after an impressive season in the second tier with the Chairboys in 2020/21.

"Ikpeazu will wear our recently vacated number 10 shirt.

"Welcome to the Welsh capital, Uche!"
