Carabao Cup draw LIVE as Manchester United and Tottenham fight for semi-final spot

Hello and welcome to our Carabao Cup draw blog. The Manchester Evening News will have you covered at every step as Manchester United prepare to take on Tottenham Hotspur in north London tonight.

That quarter-final meeting will be followed promptly by the semi-final draw. But will United make it through?

Recently-appointed head coach Ruben Amorim is preparing for his first Carabao Cup tie at the helm. On their way to the last-eight, United swept aside Barnsley under Erik ten Hag before defeating Leicester City, too, during their interim spell with Ruud van Nistelrooy in charge.

Incidentally, the Dutchman has now been appointed permanently by the Foxes - with Amorim being sworn in for United as he sets his sights on a first opportunity for silverware. United won the Carabao Cup the term before last, beating Newcastle United beneath the famous arch at Wembley Stadium.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle are safely through to the last-four as United - or Spurs - hope to join them with one eye on the semi-final draw.

Follow build-up and dedicated Manchester United FC updates below.

As always, last-four ties will be played across two legs - home and away - before the eventual two finalists get down to business beneath the famous arch at Wembley for the season's first trophy. The semi-final first legs will be played on the week commencing Monday, January 6 and the second legs from Monday, February 3.

The impending draw - after tonight's game - will not take too much time at all.

Ball numbers for the five teams left in the hat have been confirmed, though, with No.4 the one to look out for from a United perspective. Or perhaps to ignore if the result doesn't go their way!

1 - Arsenal

2 - Liverpool

3 - Newcastle
