Captain Sir Tom Moore's home where he walked 100 laps of garden for NHS is up for sale at £2.2 million

Captain Sir Tom Moore's family home, renowned for its beautiful garden where he completed 100 laps and raised £38.9 million for the NHS during the first Covid-19 lockdown, has been put on the market for £2.25 million.

The sale comes just under three months after the teardown of a non-approved spa block which was built within the property's boundaries in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire. The Grade II-listed Old Rectory is on the market with Fine & Country estate agents, who refer to it as a 'magnificent seven-bedroom property'.

A video walkthrough of the home reveals a statue of Captain Tom with his walking frame standing in the entrance hall. An image of the national hero being knighted by Her Majesty The Queen adorns a wall within a separate coach house on the estate grounds that is currently being used as a gym and office space.

As the tour video starts, the estate agent comments: "I'm sure you'll recognise this iconic and very famous driveway behind me as it was home to the late Captain Sir Tom Moore who walked 100 laps of his garden raising over £37 million for NHS charities."

World War Two veteran Captain Tom, who raised £38.9 million for the NHS, including gift aid, completed his charity challenge before his 100th birthday in April 2020. He was knighted by the late Queen during a unique open-air ceremony at Windsor Castle in the summer of that year.

The Charity Commission initiated a case into the Captain Tom Foundation shortly after his passing in 2021, and an inquiry was launched in June 2022 due to concerns about its management and independence from Captain Tom's family.
