Capitals F Hagelin out indefinitely after hip surgery

Washington Capitals forward Carl Hagelin has been ruled out indefinitely after undergoing an arthroscopic surgical procedure to address his chronic left hip on Monday morning.

The 34-year-old had three goals and 14 points in 53 games last season, his third full season with the Capitals.

A veteran pf 713 NHL games with the Capitals, Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers, Hagelin has 110 goals and 296 points in his career. 

Hagelin is signed through this season at a cap hit of $2.75 million. 

Also on Tuesday, the Captials announced that prospect Kody Clark underwent surgery to address a chronic condition with his left quad tendon.

Clark, a second-round pick of the Capitals in 2018, posted eight goals and 19 points in 63 games with the AHL's Hershey Bears.
