Cannabis farm with more than 50 plants uncovered near major Greater Manchester road

Police have seized dozens of cannabis plants after they were called to a building near a major Greater Manchester road.

Officers descended on Kent Street, off Ashton Road in Oldham, at around 10am yesterday. The Manchester Evening News understands the building was just off Kent Street, which backed onto an area of land accessed from Schofield Street.

Pictures from the scene showed dozens of plants being brought out of the property by Greater Manchester Police, with officers later confirming that between 50-70 plants had been found inside.

So far, no arrests have been made, although police are continuing to make enquiries around the property. Eyewitnesses reported seeing Electricity North West employees on site after police left.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "We were called just before 10am on October 11 to a report of a cannabis farm being found in an address on Kent Street, Oldham.

"There were 50-70 plants said to have been in the property. Officers attended and enquiries at the address are ongoing."
