Canadian women's sitting volleyball team misses chance to earn spot at 2028 Paralympics
Canada missed out on an opportunity to punch their ticket to the 2028 Paralympics after losing the women's bronze-medal match at the World Sitting Volleyball Championships on Friday in Hangzhou, China.
The Canadians were swept by the host Chinese squad three sets to zero (25-13, 25-15, 25-14).
The team that beat Canada in the semifinals, the U.S., won gold over Brazil in the championship match.
The world championships were the first chance for teams to earn qualification for the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles. With the top-ranked U.S. already assured of a spot as hosts, Brazil and China earned the two berths up for grabs on Friday.
