Canadian women reach final at wheelchair basketball worlds after win over the Netherlands

The Canadian women advanced to the wheelchair basketball world championship final after beating the Netherlands 85-73 on Thursday in Ottawa.

Canada will face the U.S. in the gold-medal game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The Americans defeated Great Britain 71-61 in the earlier semifinal.

Kady Dandeneau continued her outstanding tournament, leading Canada with 35 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

The 36-year-old from Pender Island, B.C., was coming off a dominant effort against Japan from start to finish in Wednesday’s quarterfinal, scoring a game-high 49 points while adding 12 rebounds and eight assists.

Arinn Young provided more fire power for Canada, scoring 34 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists.
