Canadian Para cyclist Alexandre Hayward earns track worlds bronze
Canada added a second medal to the tally, with Alexandre Hayward racing to a bronze finish in the Men’s C3 Elimination Race at the 2026 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands.
Competing against a world-class field in the MC3 category, Hayward battled through crashes and the chaos of the race to secure another podium finish for Canada. It came down to a three-way photo finish with New Zealand’s Devon Briggs earning the gold, and Great Britain’s Finlay Graham taking silver, just narrowly edging out Hayward at the finish line.
The Quispamsis, N.B., native entered the championships with an impressive international resume, including six world championship medals, four Parapan Am medals and a historic bronze in the Individual Pursuit at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
