Canadian GP Weekend Schedule: When does the race start?

Round 9 of the F1 2022 season takes us to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada on Sunday, June 19.

Last year, the Canadian Grand Prix was cancelled with Formula 1 citing ongoing international travel restrictions in Canada. It was confirmed that the Turkish Grand Prix would replace the Canadian Grand Prix. This has seen excitement increase for racing to return to the country.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton will be chasing Canadian Grand Prix history. The 37-year-old tied Michael Schumacher’s record of seven victories in Canada by winning the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix and can break that with victory in Montreal, though whether the Mercedes is good enough to do that is another question.

For Canadians Lance Stroll and Nicholas Latifi, the Canadian Grand Prix will be a homecoming as they will race in their home country, with Latifi in fact yet to race at the circuit in Formula 1.

Let’s have a look at when each session will be taking place in Montreal…

There are two practice sessions on Friday in Montreal, with Canada five hours behind the UK.

The first practice session will start at 7 pm UK time and will last for an hour. The second practice session will also be for an hour at 10 pm UK time.

The third and final practice session before qualifying will take place at 6 pm UK time, whilst qualifying will take place at 9 pm UK time, both sessions will be an hour long.

The day most will be looking forward to! The Grand Prix will kick off at 7 pm UK time and will take place over 70 laps of the famous 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

The 2022 Canadian Grand Prix timetable covers the full weekend track schedule, including details of all practice and qualifying sessions, support races, press conferences and
