Canada's women win gold, men take silver at FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup

Canada's women won gold and the men took silver at the FIBA 3X3 AmeriCup tournament in El Salvador on Sunday.

The women defeated the U.S. 21-12 in their final to avenge their loss to the Americans in the 2025 tournament.

“I’m very proud of the progress we made every single game,” said Canada's Paige Crozon. “We’re taking strides towards L.A. in 2028.”

Canada's Michelle Plouffe was named women's MVP after leading all scorers in the tournament with 42 points.

“It was super fun to come out here with my teammates and give it our everything and play for something bigger than ourselves,” said Michelle Plouffe.

Canada's men fell short against an American side in the final, losing 20-15, but the silver-medal finish is the best in the men's program's history in the AmeriCup.

“It feels awesome winning silver, making history. But we have a bigger goal. We're trying to go to LA 2028 and medal in LA 2028,” said Canada's Jérome Desrosiers. “With the support of the country and all our families, it's been really helpful, but we know we're capable of way more.”
