Canada's Sophia Jensen wins gold at canoe sprint world championships in Poland

Canada's Sophia Jensen won the first world title of her career on Saturday at the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint & Paracanoe World Championships in Poznań, Poland.

The 24-year-old from Chelsea, Que., finished first in the women's C1 500-metre final to claim the gold medal.

Jensen wasn't the only Canadian to claim a medal on Saturday, as Ottawa's Brianna Hennessy won bronze in the KL1 women’s 200m final.
