Canada falls to Neftchi Socar in 3x3 Women's Series basketball final in Marsille
Canada's bid for the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series title fell short Saturday, as Neftchi Socar of Azerbaijan claimed a 15-9 final victory in Marseille, France.
The Canadians opened the knockout stage with a 22-11 quarterfinal victory over Team Ottawa. Canada then advanced to the final with an 18-16 win over France U25 in the semifinal.
Team Ottawa finished 8th overall.
The Canada team featured Olympians Katherine Plouffe and Paige Crozon alongside Merissah Russell and Cassandra Brown.
Katherine Plouffe led the series in rebounds with 26, while Paige Crozon was second in scoring with 29 points.
