Canada falls to Australia in 3x3 Women's Series basketball final in Poitiers

Canada came within one basket of capturing the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Poitiers title before falling 20-19 to Australia in a thrilling overtime final at Place du Maréchal Leclerc in France.

Canada battled toe-to-toe with one of the world's top 3x3 teams in a title game that lived up to expectations. Paige Crozon led the Canadians with 11 points, repeatedly delivering in key moments to keep Canada within striking distance before overtime.

Australia's Emma Clarke scored eight points and set up the winning basket in the extra session, finding Hannah Hank for the game-winning score to secure Australia's second Women's Series title of 2026.

Despite the narrow defeat, Canada capped an outstanding tournament with another podium finish.

Canada was dominant throughout the tournament, opening with convincing Pool B victories over Hungary and Beijing before defeating Paris Région IDF 21-11 in the quarterfinals.

FIBA 3x3 Basketball Women's Series Poitiers semifinals: Canada vs. Ottawa

The semifinal produced one of the tournament's most dramatic contests as Canada faced fellow Canadians, in Team Ottawa. After building a 13-8 advantage, Canada saw Ottawa storm back to force overtime. Ottawa briefly grabbed the lead in the extra period, but Cassandra Brown and Crozon answered with consecutive baskets to complete a dramatic 17-16 victory and book Canada's place in the final.
