Canada downs U.S. for men's box lacrosse worlds title, women earn inaugural silver

Canada and the United States split the box lacrosse world titles on Sunday, with the Canadians winning their sixth title 13-7 over the Americans and the U.S. beating Canada 10-7 in the inaugural women's gold-medal game.

Jeff Teat had three goals and four assists and Dhane Smith racked up two goals and six assists for the Canadians, who have won every men's gold medal at the box lacrosse world championships since the tournament made its debut in 2003.

Shayne Jackson also had a hat trick for Canada, Josh Byrne had two goals and an assist, and Wesley Berg, Robert Church and Zach Currier also scored. Christian Del Bianco made 51 saves.

Joe Resetarits led the Americans with three goals and two assists, while C.J Kirst, Mac O'Keefe, Blaze Riorden and Joey Spallina also scored. Gowah Abrams allowed 10 goals on 42 shots before being replaced by Drew Hutchison, who allowed three goals on eight shots.

Who else but Jeff Teat would you expect to open the scoring in a gold medal game?
