'Can't fall into the trap' - Frank Lampard sends warning to Everton players before huge Wolves match

Frank Lampard has warned that his Everton side “can’t fall into the trap” of getting complacent over their positive results at Goodison Park.

Everton have won three of their last four home games in all competitions since Lampard took charge, with a narrow defeat to Manchester City also providing plenty of encouraging signs.

The Toffees will head into Sunday’s clash with Wolves a point above the relegation zone, following Burnley’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday.

However, despite the team’s good run of form in front of their own fans, Lampard has stated that Everton cannot afford to take anything for granted in the visit of Bruno Lage’s side.

“Ultimately, it (Boreham Wood in the FA Cup) was a third win from four home matches,” Lampard wrote in his programme notes , ahead of the Wolves game.

“But we can’t fall into the trap of thinking, 'we’re at Goodison again, the result will take care of itself'.

“We are nowhere near that position and the message to the players is very clear: nothing is going to come easy for us over the next few months, we’re not entitled to anything just because we’re Everton.”

Lampard continued: “I’ve said time and again what a fantastic club this is, with a great tradition and a big and passionate fanbase.
