Dublin failed to score from play in the 4-22 to 0-05 defeat by All-Ireland champions Cork in the group stages, but they were short some players and in terms of mindset, will be buoyed considerably by the manner of their stunning four-point victory over Kilkenny in the quarter-final that earned them a spot in the last four for the first time in seven years and only the second since 2020. They have also won the Very League Division 1B title.

After a stodgy league, Cork look to have moved through the gears in the group stages of the championship with a 100% record. The Rebels' pace is a real threat and they possess significant scoring power so it will be interesting to see how Dublin set up.

This is one to really whet the appetite, with Galway having the added motivation of looking to gain a measure of revenge for losing against Tipperary in the Very League Division 1A final at Croke Park in April by a point. They had also gone down by a goal at the Premiers’ fortress, The Ragg, and had their colours lowered
