Camogie All-Star tour to Canada cancelled

The controversial Camogie All-Star tour to Canada has been cancelled.

A number of the players selected had made it clear that they would not travel for the event, which would have taken place from 19-25 May, beginning a week after the Leinster and Munster provincial finals and ending eight days prior to the start of the senior championship.

The 2021 All-Star team had been due to take on the 2022 selection on 21 May in an exhibition game at the GAA grounds of the Calgary Chieftains.

Speaking on the issue recently, former Cork star Gemma O'Connor said it was "completely ridiculous, the timeframe in which they've chosen to have the All-Star trip".

RTÉ Sport understands that despite discussions on rescheduling the tour for later in the year, that will not happen due to concerns over potential clashes with club fixtures.
