Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward making a new RPG

Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward appear to be working on an upcoming role-playing game, as per Gamerant.

The developers made their start with the very first Call of Duty title in 2002, and have been a benchmark for first-person shooters for some time.

Of course, they are currently developing Modern Warfare 2, which is set to release later this year on next-generation consoles, as a follow up to the rebooted Modern Warfare.

But it now appears that they are developing another game away from Call of Duty, with a job listing hinting at an RPG coming out under their banner.

The developer is said to be looking for a Narrative Director that will help produce the game, which is unprecedented for Infinity Ward.

As per Charlie Intel, the verified COD insider, posted the job listing on Twitter, revealing that the listing is for the Poland office to work on an “open world RPG” title.

It isn’t clear if the game is linked to the Call of Duty universe.

However, they have confirmed that the RPG will be published by Activision, hoping that they have “proven” experience of working on AAA titles.

Call of Duty, of course, has immensely high production values and it is natural that they would want those to continue even if they are looking to launch a new IP.

Gamerant makes the point that the RPG is likely to also release on Steam after COD returned to Valve’s platform earlier this month.

It remains to be seen exactly how the RPG will look or whether it will feature first-person shooting mechanics, but it is possible that it could, given Infinity Ward’s immense track record.

We’ll let you know as soon as we have any more information about the potential new IP.

Keep it
