Cal to hire Oregon DC Tosh Lupoi as head coach, sources say - ESPN
Cal has agreed in principle to a five-year deal to make Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi the school's next head coach, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Thursday.
The school is expected to announce the deal soon.
Lupoi played at Cal from 2000-2005 before starting his coaching career with the Bears in 2008 under former coach Jeff Tedford.
Lupoi has spent the past four seasons as Dan Lanning's defensive coordinator with the Ducks. Before Oregon, he spent three years as a defensive line coach in the NFL, following a five-year stint on Nick Saban's staff at Alabama (2014-18) with the final season as defensive coordinator.
Lupoi is also from the Bay Area, having attended high school football power De La Salle during its record 151-game winning streak.
Lupoi will replace Justin Wilcox, who was fired Nov. 23.
