Cagliari name Nicola as manager

Cagliari have appointed Davide Nicola as their new coach on a two-year deal, the Serie A club announced on Friday.

The former Salernitana and Empoli manager, 51, has signed until 30 June 2026, with an option for a further season.

"Meticulous, prepared, a true fighter: it is now time for Nicola to take on a new challenge," the club said in a statement.

Nicola takes over at Cagliari following the retirement of 72-year-old Claudio Ranieri.
