CAF draws: Falcons to know WAFCON opponents next week

Nine-time champions, Super Falcons, will know their opponents in the 2025 African Women’s Cup of Nations when the draws hold in Morocco next week.The Confederation of African Football (CAF), yesterday, confirmed that the draws for the championship will hold on Friday, November 22 at Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Sale, Morocco.

According to CAF, the draw, which will start at 8.00 p.m. Moroccan time (7.00 p.m. in Nigeria), will be broadcast live on major broadcast channels across Africa and internationally, as well as on CAF’s digital streaming platform, CAF TV.

The draw will determine the fate of the 12 Africa’s top women’s national teams ahead of the 13th edition of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations billed to hold place from July 5 to 26, 2025 in Morocco.South Africa are the current champions of the competition having won it on Moroccan soil in 2022.

The Super Falcons, who are the most successful African women’s national team with nine titles, will enter the competition as one of the top-seeded teams.

The team qualified for next year’s championship by thrashing Cape Verde 7-1 in the final round of qualifiers. The other teams in the draw are Morocco (hosts), Algeria, Botswana, DR Congo, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia and Zambia.
