Bus driver 'deserves a pay rise' for kicking off passenger after hearing vile slur

A driver has been praised for kicking a passenger off his bus after hearing a vile slur. Footage appears to show the driver shepherding a passenger off a Rosso single-decker in Rochdale bus station.

In the TikTok clip, viewed nearly three million times, the driver confronts the man who allegedly called a disabled passenger a "r****d'. The transport worker can be heard telling other staff members about the outburst.

A caption on the video also said ‘respect to the driver [for] defending disabled passenger’. Other TikTok users have praised the driver, with Nolan Vickers adding: “Total respect to the driver… and if his bosses are watching… the man deserves a pay rise.”

Roys Mowing added: “Needs a medal, the big man is all mouth. Respect, driver.” And Karl Jarrett831 also praised the driver: “Not many people stand up for the vulnerable so my hat goes off to this man 100 percent respect more people need to follow in this man’s actions.”

However, one user called Otto said the driver should not have repeated the vile insult the passenger allegedly used. They commented: “Bus driver shouldn’t have been saying the slur but really good on him for defending the passenger so hard, as he should.”

Another user called monstermunch joked that this incident would be ‘only in Rochdale’.

The Manchester Evening News contacted Transdev Blazefield, which runs Rosso buses, and Greater Manchester Police for comment.
