Bruno Fernandes sends message to Rasmus Hojlund and Sir Jim Ratcliffe after Manchester United win

Bruno Fernandes hopes Rasmus Hojlund's best days at Manchester United are ahead of him after the striker broke his Premier League duck against Aston Villa.

The Dane had failed to score in more than 1,000 minutes in the competition but his 82nd-minute strike completed an impressive 3-2 comeback for his side, who found themselves two goals down at the break.

His United teammates were ecstatic when Hojlund hit a first-time effort in off the post with Old Trafford erupting as the club’s four-game winless streak came to an end.

Andre Onana ran up all the way from his goal to join in the celebrations while Fernandes was also seen in rapturous celebration after the ball hit the net. Speaking to Amazon Prime Video after full-time, Fernandes was asked about his delight for Hojlund.

“Not only for him, but because it was 3-2 so we really needed this,” he said. “We know as a striker he needs to score goals. He’s eager to do it.

“All we want is for our strikers to have confidence to get more goals and he knows that he’s going to have pressure, he plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world. He knows how it is playing for this club, you have a lot of attention so he has to get used to that.”

Hojlund said in another post-match interview that it was the “best day of my life”, to which Fernandes later responded: “I hope he has more to come! We really need him to score goals as every striker we have in the team, we need them to score goals. Not only them but playing up front we need them to be as confident as possible to have chances and score.”
