Bromley’s Southborough Primary School win Pokemon Primary Schools’ Cup with 4-2 win over Berkshire’s Basildon Primary at bet365 Stadium

Southborough Primary School’s under-11 girls’ football team are signing off in style after being crowned Pokemon Primary Schools’ Cup champions.

The Bromley side claimed a 4-2 victory over Berkshire’s Basildon Primary in the national final at Stoke City’s bet365 Stadium, with the girls beginning secondary school life this autumn.

Coach and deputy head Ian Fotheringham was full of praise for the players.

“I am immensely proud of the team’s amazing achievements this year and it has been an absolute pleasure to be their coach,” he said.

“The team has scored numerous individual goals this season, but also some amazing team goals.

“The girls are fiercely competitive and also show great sporting and team spirit and this positive attitude was vital to the team’s success.”

Head teacher Melody Berthoud added: “Huge
