Brits owning popular heated airer for their clothes told 'stop using it immediately'

With people across the UK feeling the bite of high energy costs in the years following the pandemic, many have turned to more economical solutions for drying their clothes in winter. One of the most popular options has become electric heated clothes airers, which costs pennies to run, especially compared to energy-hungry tumble dryers.

However, the home furnishings retailer Dunelm has issued a rare product recall on one of its most popular of these products, the Winged Heated Airer. This is out of concern that the heated clothes rack poses a safety risk to customers.

Anyone who has purchased one of these products at any point in the last three years (February 2022 to January 2025), online or in a Dunelm store, has been told by the retailer to "stop using it immediately." This is because they have identified a fault where the airer can overheat and cause a fire risk.

People who have purchased this airer can return it to any Dunelm store and receive a full refund. To see if your airer is one of those affected, its article number can be found next to the product's on/off switch.

The affected Dunelm Heated Winged Airer has the barcode 5057722844042, with the article number 30752153. Customers requiring
