British mum in Spain issues urgent warning to people on holiday after passport is 'stolen'

A British woman was left fearing she may be stranded in Spain after her passport was reportedly stolen while she was on holiday.

In an emotional TikTok video, young mum Jess (@je55x) shared her distressing experience, revealing that she was at a McDonald's restaurant when she realised items were missing from her bag, which was hanging open on her child's pushchair. "My passport, my two cards, everything is gone," she said.

Wondering aloud about her return to the UK, she continued: "How the h**l am I going to get home?" Jess said she's since contacted the police, who told her to make her way to the station, which was 1.4 miles away. She also discovered that attempts had been made to use her bank cards at a nearby steakhouse.

Upon reaching the station, Jess encountered another Brit who had experienced a similar theft in Salou, a coastal town on the east of the country. "I've just been talking to another woman here and she's had the full phone, purse... everything gone, and she was only stood nearby."

Jess concluded her video with advice for fellow travellers: "I'm just putting it out there," she cautioned. "Just keep your stuff on you and not around you. Anything can happen anywhere. You just never know when it's going to happen to yourself so always be alert and on it so it doesn't happen to you."

TikTok users rallied to offer Jess advice, suggesting the UK embassy would be best suited to help with her dilemma. One user penned: "You need to go to the UK embassy they'll get you a new passport for you to get home," while another added in retrospect: "Always get a hotel safe, why would you carry your passport about whilst on holiday especially if you're there for a few days?"
