British GP: Williams confirm upgrades being brought to Silverstone

Williams‘ Dave Robson has confirmed that the team will be bringing an updated aerodynamic package to the car for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with them set to run it on Alex Albon’s car.

The Grove-based team are working hard to try and get themselves further up the grid and they’ll be hoping that they can see signs of progress this weekend.

It’s a home Grand Prix for them, of course, as it is for many of the teams up and down the pitlane, and there’s plenty of excitement among fans to see the British outfits and drivers in action.

Albon will be looking to use the upgrades to good effect, too, with him being given the new parts to try this weekend at Silverstone.

Robson confirmed:

“We have an updated aero package for this weekend, which will run on Alex’s car only as we look to check its behaviour and confirm that it is working as intended. The bodywork and floor form the basis of the upgrade and are intended to efficiently increase the downforce of the car.

“We are looking forward to our home race and to understanding the new parts; they are likely to change the balance and the handling of the car and it may take a little bit of time to harness them so that the drivers can get the most from them. With next week’s race in Austria being a Sprint Event, we will be looking to get as much learning done this weekend as possible.”
