British GP: Sergio Perez ready to fight from P4 at Silverstone

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has vowed to fight from P4 on the grid at the British Grand Prix.

The Mexican sees his title rivals Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc start in front of him and alongside him respectively on the grid, with Carlos Sainz leading the field away from pole position.

Indeed, Perez will be looking to try and make an impression from the get-go after a tough race last time out in Montreal that saw him retire early from the Grand Prix, but he is going to have to do it the hard way if he wants to win with three fast cars and drivers in front of him.

Speaking after qualifying to the press here at Silverstone, though, the Red Bull driver vowed that he would fight from fourth and that his starting position is far from the worst it could have been:

“I had Zhou right behind me for my final two laps and it wasn’t ideal but P4 is not the end of the world, we can fight from there.

“We are all in a similar ballpark, we’ve all had very little running so we should be able to get a good race pace and hopefully we’re in the fight.

“It’s quite different to what I had [on Friday] but it shouldn’t be the end of the world and as long as we have a good strategy we should be strong.”

The grid is set-up really nicely with the four fastest cars so far this season in the front two rows, whilst home heroes Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris are sitting in the third row just behind.

It’s an exciting-looking line-up, and Perez will hope to make progress come lights out at 3pm.
