Britain's Got Talent viewers think they've rumbled who was in the Mr Blobby suit as he caused 'chaos'

Head judge Simon Cowell got more than he bargained for when he was brought on stage by a surprise auditionee on Britain's Got Talent (May 6). The worlds of Saturday night TV collided as nineties Noel's House Party icon Mr Blobby bounded on stage to audition for the ITV talent show for the opportunity to win a place on stage at the Royal Variety Performance.

Simon immediately looked unimpressed to see the bubblegum pink and yellow spotted figure, telling his fellow judges: "I actually hate Mr Blobby." "For the younger viewers who don't know who he is he's TV royalty," explained hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly about the chaotic character.

Blobby, who had a Christmas number one hit in 1993 with the song Mr Blobby, caused absolute havoc as he tried his hand as a magician. After his card game went wrong, he summoned Simon on stage and the show boss waved goodbye as he got inside a 'disappearing box.'

But Simon failed to disappear and the box appeared to malfunction, covering Simon in pink gunge as Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli watched in disbelief. Amanda was clinging to Alesha as she roared with laughter.

As the act sparked early nineties nostalgia, viewers thought they had worked out who was inside the bulbous costume. @ArrowsandCheese tweeted: "I’m going out on a limb, that’s @StephenMulhern in that Blobby suit"

@StefanWolves90 also thought Stephen, who presented BGT's sister show Britain's Got More Talent until it was axed in 2019, was in disguise, "Stephen mulhern is Mr blobby," they decided.
