Bristol City 1-1 Swansea City: Semenyo cancels out Piroe opener as FA Cup 3rd round tie goes to a replay

Antoine Semenyo cancelled out Joel Piroe's opener as Swansea City were forced to settle for a replay in their FA Cup third round contest with Bristol City.

The Swans dominated the opening half at Ashton Gate and went ahead after just 15 minutes through what was Piroe's ninth goal of the season following a defensive howler from the hosts.

But the Robins improved in the second-half and earned a draw through Semenyo's header which means the sides will meet again in south Wales later this month to battle it out for a place in the fourth round of the competition.

Russell Martin made just one change to the side that started the 2-1 defeat to Championship leaders Burnley last time out as Nathan Wood came in for Harry Darling who was joined on the extended list of substitutes by Nathanael Ogbeta and Joel Cotterill.

The Robins were presented with an opening in the very first minute as Semenyo was tripped by Ben Cabango outside the Swansea box, only for Kal Naismith to blaze into the packed out away end which contained 2,500 fervent Jacks.

Swansea soon settled though, and very nearly struck gold after countering from another set-piece as Piroe found Ollie Cooper in space, although Ryan Manning was unable to pick out a team-mate in the box.

It swiftly set the tone for what was to come as the Swans looked comfortable in playing their way through Nigel Pearson's side while also being incredibly dangerous on the break.
