Bristol Bears selected for another showpiece game at Twickenham

It is undeniable Bristol Bears and Harlequins have served up some mesmerising games of rugby in recent years and in 2022/23 the two sides will go head to head at Twickenham to provide fans with a real Christmas treat.

The Bears will face Quins at the home of English rugby in the Big Game 14 on December 27 in Round 13 of the Gallagher Premiership this year.

In recent years Pat Lam's entertaining side have been involved in several of these big showcase occasions, narrowly losing 27-23 to Saracens at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium back in March this year in The Showdown 2 and playing Bath at Twickenham in The Clash in 2019, losing 26-19.

Despite having not come out on top in one of these huge club games, Bristol director of rugby Lam said he is excited at the prospect of playing in front of another huge crowd once again.

He said: "It is going to be at Twickenham, live on ITV, so it is another great occasion for the team to look forward to.

"We have our great nights and days at Ashton Gate, we have the South Africa game on November 17, and now we have this game at Twickenham to look forward to as well against Quins.

"It is another great opportunity for our supporters, looking back at these type of games it is normally pretty full and it will be great event for our fans. The players look forward to these occasions as well. Looking back on the game at Tottenham Hotspurs it was great to be there and a great experience."

The Bears have not beaten Harlequins since their 'Bristanbul' collapse to the West London side at Ashton Gate in the semi-final of the 2020/21 season, throwing away a 28-0 lead to lose 36-43.

Since then Quins have won 52-24 at The Stoop and 38-29 at Ashton Gate.
