Brentford boss Thomas Frank discovers FA punishment after Wolves charge

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has been fined £8,000 by the FA after being charged for his conduct after the Premier League game against Wolves earlier this month.

The Bees boss was charged for his ‘improper’ language towards the referee following his side’s 2-1 loss over Wolves at the Brentford Community Stadium last weekend.

Goals from Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves gave Bruno Lage’s side a 2-1 win over Brentford, with their manager taking out his frustrations on referee Peter Bankes after the full-time whistle.

It led to the manager also having words with Wolves midfielder Moutinho.

The incident led to the referee showing Frank both a yellow and red card after full time as both teams made their way off the pitch.

Speaking about the incident on Saturday, Frank said: “I was actually relatively calm going in there and there was a situation that triggered it.

“I got a yellow card after a confrontation with a Wolves player and then I turned around to Peter (Bankes, referee) and said, ‘You can just give me the second one as well.’

“I went in to speak with Peter calmly and asked why I got the second one, because the first one is fair enough. He said it was because apparently I was too aggressive.

“He said he will look back at it and see if it looked like that on TV and if it does, it will stand, if not it will be one yellow.

“I said to the players that I want them to control their emotions and not get stupid cards, so I said sorry for that this time because I couldn’t control my emotions.”

Frank accepted a charge from the FA earlier this week, with the FA now confirming that the Brentford boss has been given a fine for the incident.
