Brentford appoint Damien Duff as assistant manager

Damien Duff has joined Brentford as Keith Andrews assistant as he makes his return to management.

Duff has been out of the game since leaving Shelbourne last year, where he won the League of Ireland in 2024.

Andrews, who enjoyed a successful first season in charge of the Bees with a ninth-place finish in the league, has moved to bring Duff to the London club.

The pair worked together in the Irish coaching set-up, and Duff recently spent time at the club after being invited over by Andrews.

“I’ve known Damien for a long time,” said head coach Keith Andrews.

“I’ve seen him up close throughout his coaching journey. We’ve been on courses together and worked together as coaches with the Republic of Ireland national team.

“Damien will bring experience, presence and a real level of detail to our coaching department. He will add to the great group we already have and I’m very pleased that he is joining us.”

Duff won two Premier League titles, the League Cup and Community Shield during three years with Chelsea.

Duff also represented Blackburn Rovers - where he lifted the League Cup in 2002 – as well as Newcastle United, Fulham, Melbourne City and Shamrock Rovers.
