Brendan Rodgers snubs Man City and Liverpool FC when naming best Premier League team

Brendan Rodgers has snubbed Manchester City and Liverpool when naming the best Premier League team this season.

Only Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp's sides have a chance of lifting the domestic title on Sunday. Should City beat Aston Villa this weekend they will lift the Premier League but anything less would give Liverpool the chance to snatch the title with victory over Wolves.

Despite reaching the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League, Rodgers' Leicester City have suffered an underwhelming season which could finish as high as eighth should results go in their favour. The Foxes take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night and the former coach of the London club believes that Thomas Tuchel's Blues are the best side they have faced.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Rodgers said: "I would go as far as to say Chelsea are the best team we have played this season. When we played them early on in the season, they were at the top of their game.

"I thought they were outstanding. Not long after that moment, they lost some players.

"I've said it before, even with squads like Chelsea’s you need your top players available. Over the course of the time, they have had players out, key players who make the systems function to the highest level.

"What I do know is they've got an outstanding manager who has done a fantastic job since he's been there. They've got a group of really good players, top, top talents."
