BREAKING: Two lanes shut and queues of over SIX miles on M60 following crash - latest updates

Traffic is queuing on a stretch of the M60 this evening due to an overturned car.

Two lanes have been shut off on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway, between junction 27 for Stockport and junction 25 for Bredbury. Emergency services are at the scene of the crash.

Drivers are facing about six miles of congestion as a result of the incident. There are currently delays of around 40 minutes.

National Highways: North-West tweeted: "Lanes 1 & 2 are closed on the #M60 anti-clock between J27 #Stockport and J25 #Bredbury due to a collision involving an overturned car. Emergency services are on scene. There are approx. 6 miles of congestion on approach causing 40 min delays above normal travel time."

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for further information.

The incident is causing 'severe delays', according to the traffic monitoring service Inrix.

Traffic is reportedly queuing back as far as the M56, and junction 5 for Manchester Airport.
