BREAKING: Traffic builds on M6 as carriageway blocked due to police incident - updates
Traffic is building on the M6 northbound this evening due to an ongoing police incident.
National Highways North West announced that emergency services were on the scene of the incident which has caused the northbound carriageway of the motorway to become blocked between J23 and J24.
There is currently around four miles of congestion with delays continuing to build. Further details about the nature of the incident have not yet been confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police have said two vehicles were involved in a collision this evening.
There are no injuries reported.
The latest update on traffic service Inrix reads: "All traffic being temporarily held and queueing traffic due to police incident on M6 Northbound from J23 A580 East Lancashire Road (Haydock) to J24 A58 Liverpool Road (Ashton In Makerfield)."
