BREAKING: Man arrested over 'murder' of missing Tameside woman

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder in connection with the disappearance of a 24-year-old woman from Tameside. Alisha Apostoloff-Boyarin, from Ashton-under-Lyne, was last seen in January and reported missing a month later.

Greater Manchester Police launched a missing persons investigation and following a number of lines of enquiry, a 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He was bailed yesterday evening (March 16).

Ms Apostoloff-Boyarin is still yet to be found. Police believe she travelled to Durham and are urging anyone with details about her disappearance to come forward.

DCI Andrew Naismith, senior investigating officer, said: "Although Alisha has not yet been located, following a number of enquiries we do believe that she has come to serious harm.

"However, the investigation is still on-going and we are not in a position to confirm any further details at this stage. We believe Alisha travelled to Durham and we have officers in that area today conducting further enquiries.

"I would urge anyone with information, or anyone who may have seen Alisha or who may have CCTV/dashcam footage since she went missing in January, to please contact police, as the smallest bit of information may help us to piece together what has happened to Alisha. Alisha's next of kin has been informed of the update."

Anyone with information about Alisha's disappearance is being urged to come forward, using GMP's online portal here or by calling the major incident team on 0161 856 6777. Alternatively, use the LiveChat service on GMP's website or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
