BREAKING: Eight-year-old child hit by vehicle in Stalybridge

An eight-year-old child has been hit by a vehicle in Stalybridge.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene of the incident, on Hamilton Street, shortly after 5pm this evening, February 16.

The road has been cordoned off and will remain closed as police enquiries continue.

Pictures from the scene show a large emergency response, with numerous police vehicles in attendance as well as an ambulance.

The closure is in place from the junction with Cumberland Street and Harrison Street.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that there had been a collision between an eight year old child and a vehicle.

The child's condition is not yet known, but the North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for information.

A man is speaking with officers in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson from the force said: "Officers were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle on Hamilton Street in Stalybridge just after 5pm today (16 February 2022).

"Emergency services are in attendance and an eight-year-old child from the bicycle was injured.
