Brands BSB: Frustrated Brookes ‘encouraged by progress’
Josh Brookes is itching to get back on his MCE Ducati at Brands Hatch this weekend after making progress in recent BSB races.
The double British Superbike Champion returns to the scene of his 19 previous victories after a difficult run of form but with light at the end of the tunnel after being firmly in the mix at Knockhill last time out. The circuit record holder at the Kent track since 2017, Brookes is hoping round five is the one to turn his fortunes around for the rest of the year.
“We have had some better results in the last couple of rounds so this extended break has been frustrating for me,” Brookes said, eager to get back in the action. “The time off has felt cruel as I just want to get going, but I’m now looking forward to Brands Hatch. We need to pick up where we left off and we have a good base setup which we can refer to.
“To be challenging for a podium at Knockhill was very encouraging because it’s my bogey track which is totally opposed to Brands Hatch.
“The competition will be intense as ever, but we’ll give it our best shot.”
