Boy, 10, knocked down by BMW motorbike in hit-and-run

A 10-year-old boy was knocked down by a motorbike in a hit-and-run in Warrington.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash on Farrell Street at around 3.35pm on Friday, March 25. The boy was crossing at the traffic lights when he was hit by a grey BMW motorbike.

The rider stopped at the scene, but then left before officers arrived. The boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Cheshire Police are now appealing for the rider to come forward. They also want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or who has footage.

Police Constable Hannah Dodgson said: "Thankfully the child suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision but it doesn’t bear thinking about what could have happened. The Farrell Street area would have been busy at this time of day due to the nearby school and so I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to us, to please do so.

"The same goes to anyone who may have captured dashcam or CCTV footage of the motorbike prior or just after the collision. I would also ask the rider of the motorbike to please come forward to police so that they can assist with our enquiries."

Anyone with information is asked to report it via the Cheshire Police website or call 101 quoting IML 1230511. Information can also be passed onto Crimestoppers anonymously by visiting the Crimestoppers website or calling 0800 555 111.
