Boxing referee praised after shrugging off monster Mario Aguilar hook

A boxing official showcased how to take a punch after being caught on the chin by a monstrous left hook from Mexican star Mario Aguilar.

On Friday 9th September at the ProBox Event Centre, Florida, Aguilar met unbeaten Brandon Glanton for the cruiserweight WBO Global Title.

Coming in to the fight, Glanton was a huge odds-on favourite to win with many expecting the American to go far in the sport.

Going in to the contest a clear underdog, the 31-year-old Aguilar had to take every opportunity for a knockout presented to him and he certainly didn’t hold back.

With this in mind, Aguilar must have been ready to open the champagne and begin celebrations when his fizzling right hook connected with some serious force.

Learning his cataclysmic punch had drifted over Glanton’s head and been planted direct on the referee’s face would surely have come as a bit of a shock.

In what can only be described as incredible scenes, the referee ate the punch and continued officiating the fight as if nothing had happened.

Twitter user @GloversStories shared the video which shows the remarkable scene.

Having thrown the punch, Aguilar quickly restrained Glanton in a headlock in an attempt to maintain control of the fight.

However, it became clear Aguilar’s input was deemed totally unnecessary as the referee proceeded to separate the two boxers and proceed with the fight.
