Boxer slapped with huge fine and hefty ban after Mike Tyson-esque bite

Edgar Berlanga tried to recreate Mike Tyson’s infamous biting incident on Evander Holyfield recently as he took on Alexis Angulo.

The fight continued with Berlanga keeping his undefeated streak alive by outpointing Angulo, however, in the seventh round, it looked like the Colombian bit his opponent, with him later admitting he did bite his opponent.

During the fight, the bite wasn’t picked up on despite Angulo clearly referencing it, but he didn’t complain too much and carried on with the fight.

He has been punished since though, the New York State Athletic Commission will be punishing the boxer, fining him a staggering $10,000 and banning him from boxing for six months.

He did try to pass blame onto his opponent in the post-fight interview, claiming: “He kept throwing elbows and you know, head-butted me and stuff. So, I was telling him like, ‘Yo, chill!’ You know, like I didn’t wanna get cut or anything.
