Bowler with egg on his face after 'phone call' wicket celebration as batter gets revenge

The rise of European Cricket over the past few years has provided fans with both memorable and bizarre moments and the recent T10 match between Tunbridge Wells and French club Dreux was no different.

After Dreux bowler Wahid Abdul made a breakthrough, bowling Kent all-rounder Marcus O'Riordan, he removed his shoe and mimed making a phone call, a celebration South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has become known for.

Abdul also gave O'Riordan a send-off, gesturing for him to leave the field and Tunbridge Wells' skipper Chris Williams was keen to return the favour.

In the following over, Williams struck Kamran Ahmadzai for back-to-back sixes, celebrating both of them by copying Abdul's celebration and miming making a phone call on his bat.

Taking to Twitter, Williams shared a picture of his celebration, joking: "Hi there, I’m currently out of the office @EuropeanCricket with limited access to emails. For anything urgent, please call my mobile on 07700666666. Best regards, Chris"

The exchange also caught the eye of Shamsi, who tweeted: "This is brilliant. Loved the commentary as well... Nice to see how much fun the players, the crowd and the commentators too were having".

Kent captain Sam Billings also shared the video, quote tweeting it with several laughing emojis.

Cricket fans also found the clip hilarious, with @CSKian716 making reference to Pat Cummins' recent statement about Justin Langer's departure as Australia head coach, joking: "Just as you have always stuck up for your mates, I'm sticking up for mine."
