Boucher wants to grow Proteas' belief, confidence: 'You cannot be tentative to win a World Cup'

Proteas coach Mark Boucher says his side cannot be tentative in the middle as they search for an elusive T20 World Cup title.

Despite a demanding England tour looming, the Proteas go in with confidence after drawing the five-match T20 series 2-2 against India on the subcontinent.

With less than four months to go until the T20 World Cup in Australia, the Proteas have about 10 T20 games remaining, which includes warm-ups, to prepare for the ICC event.

At last year's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, the Proteas only lost one game as they narrowly missed the playoffs due to net run-rate.

Boucher believes they'll go for a slightly different squad to what they played in India in order to adapt Down Under.

"If we look at the (India) series, it's not played in the same conditions as we'd get in Australia. I think there's a certain level of confidence you can take from all these series," Boucher told reporters on Tuesday.

"But if we have a look at the make-up of our team, it'll probably be a little bit different going into a World Cup, especially in completely different conditions.

"We tried to have one or two things and we got some answers over the options we can have going forward, but once we start playing conditions that are similar to Australia, then we can delve into different tactics."
