Boston Bruins fire Bruce Cassidy
The Boston Bruins have fired head coach Bruce Cassidy, the team announced Monday.
The Bruins won 51 games this past season. It lost in the opening round of the playoffs to the Carolina Hurricanes, a seven-game series that ended May 14.
«His head coaching record for the Bruins is impressive, and we are appreciative of Bruce both professionally and personally,» Boston general manager Don Sweeney said. «After taking some time to fully digest everything, I felt that the direction of our team for both this season and beyond would benefit from a new voice.»
Cassidy had been leading the team since February 2017.
