Bolton Wanderers dealt triple injury blow ahead of clash with Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday look set to face a Bolton Wanderers side weakened by injuries after it was revealed that three of their players could potentially be facing weeks out of action. Injury was the reason behind all three of Bolton's substitutions during their recent 1-1 draw with Portsmouth, creating a scenario which is far from ideal for the Trotters with the visit of the Owls looming.

Ricardo Santos, Dapo Afolayan and Kyle Dempsey were the unfortunate trio and all were the victims of hamstring injuries, leading Bolton boss Ian Evatt to insist there 'has to be something in that'. Speaking to The Bolton News after the draw against Portsmouth, he said: "More concerning is the injuries really – that really disrupted our momentum second half.

"Rico is huge for us but Kyle and Dapo as well, three hamstring (injuries). There has to be something in that, especially following Saturday’s game. We will get them scanned and looked at and see where we are at."

He was asked whether the trio could face weeks out of action and the answer suggested they will not be involved when Darren Moore's men arrive at The University of Bolton Stadium. Evatt said: "It looks that way and that is not ideal for anybody.

"It has been a long season and especially since January, we have played a lot of football. Rico and Dapo in particular have played a lot of football. Whether that is a fatigue issue, I don’t know. But we will do our research, get them looked at and see where we are at."
